A Beautiful World

Source Unknown:

A beautiful world.

Look around you, it is amazing. Skyscrapers, gravity, daisies, peaches, archipelagos, children, languages, music, wars, phosphorous, galaxies, snow, literature, human existence.

We live in such a breathtaking environment that is full of magic and wonder. Although we can feel intense sadness, profound happiness can be just around the corner. One step away. One thought away. One kiss away. Sources for joy are literally everywhere, one just has to overlook all of the negative things trying to cover them up.

The world conspires for you to be happy, not unhappy. It is all a matter of perspective, of stepping back and taking a good look at the world around you. How can you ever be bored, depressed, frustrated, annoyed or jealous in a world of such infinite possibility?

Are you discontent with your current situation? Then change it. Move elsewhere. Do something else. Befriend other people. This world is not a single plane, it is vast and varied and waiting to be experienced.

If today is not a good day, wake up tomorrow and start a better day. Better yet, close your eyes for one minute and open them looking for the beauty, the complexity, the awesomeness that is this Universe. Forget the ugliness, the adversity, the vacuous nature that so many impose upon the world around them for those details are not worth paying attention to, nor remembering.

What good do negative thoughts and actions serve? They only hurt, cramp and suppress positivity. It is only with optimism, altruism and compassion that this world can be cured of its ills. Judgement, hatred, egotism, bitterness and despair only bring more evil into a world already riddled with problems. Even a very small amount of a good can spread exponentially because it is so much more rare than bad in this universe.

Regarding good, people are the ultimate source of it. Every single human being is completely different with their own flaws, skills, experiences, secrets, and dreams. Every man and woman holds inside of themselves a story so infinitely interesting that it could never be told completely in a film, book or conversation. People cannot be defined as ignorant, pretty, selfish, purple, happy or conservative. Every person is a unique being shaped by the infinite amount of variables that our Earth-bound existences offer us. The Earth is a museum and we all are the art within it. Study all of the art regardless of its shape, color or texture and you will gain a greater understanding of the museum.

Life is what you make of it. Life is perception: sight, taste, smell, sound and touch. Reality depends upon the intensity and angle with which light hits our eyes. Reality sounds only because of the way our brains decipher the vibrations of the air around us. That same air is only felt because of the stimulation of our nerve endings and the subsequent signals to our brains. We are told only what is around us, it is our job to actually interpret that information. A “negative” sensory input can be a source of anguish, or simply an inspiration to change everything and attract more positive inputs. It is up to you, and you alone. No one thing or one person can decide or influence how you feel. That is completely up to you. Decide to be happy about life and you will remain that way. It is your perception, so why not make it a positive perception?

We live in a beautiful world. It is time that you see the beauty. It is ever-pervading and impossible to miss unless your eyes are closed. So open them.

Espanol

Pues cambiala. Mudate a otro lado. Haz otra cosa. Busca amigos nuevos.

Abrelos.

Kindness

It is a bit embarrassing to have been concerned with the human problem all one’s life and find at the end that one has no more to offer by way of advice than to be a little kinder

Majesty of Life

Sometimes it takes stepping completely out of a situation in order to find understanding. We all need transformative experiences. Transformative for the better. The individual needs to be transformed before we transform the collective. This life is amazing, or like joe rogan says “We live in a fucking Fantasy world”. Don’t forget that this life is a trip and we have to enjoy it. Chase your own love and happiness. Live your life with gratitude, with humility and with courage. If you approach psychedelics in the same way then they can be a great tool in your unfoldment as a human being, in your growth towards a more humane individual. I don’t think anything has the potential to be as earth shattering and transformative as psychedelics. As far as i know, it’s the only thing that can, with a single dose, shatter your worldview and wake you up to the realization that this life, this reality, encompasses a lot more than you had previously thought. It’s about a lot more than you had ever imagined. And maybe not everyone needs psychedelics to get the experience, you can get them through other means, but we all need the experience, we all need it in order to change. We all need to shatter this bullshit, conventional, main stream worldview and realize that this life is about a lot more than they tell you in school or in television. Don’t allow anyone to define your life for your. Define your own ideas of progress and success and then go after them. And above all, please THINK. Think about your actions, your thoughts, your words. The ability to think is what defines us as human beings. So turn off the auto-pilot, start thinking and take charge of your life. We are all blessed to be alive and we all get to do what we want with our experience. But remember, we are neither machines nor zombies. We are no simple animal. We’re human beings and we have to start acting like it. Like always, keep growing. In the light direction.

Safe & Sound

I could lift you up
I could show you what you wanna see
And take you where you wanna be

We’re safe and sound….

I could fill your cup
You know my river won’t evaporate
This world we still appreciate

You could be my luck
Even in a hurricane of frowns
I know that we’ll be safe and sound

We’re safe and sound….

I could show you love

In a tidal wave of mystery

You’ll still be standing next to me

Never Let you Go

The Miraculous Migration of the Monarch Butterfly

The monarch butterfly migrates to Mexico by the thousands every year. The local people, the Mazahua, believe that the monarchs represent the spirits of their ancestors. They consciously chose to believe the monarchs are the spirit of their lost ones, and they make them so, by believing. If you believe it you make it so, at least in your own reality. And your own reality is the only one you can experience and live, your own reality is the only one that is real to you. Why not believe in such a beautiful thought? For the Mazahua, the arrival of the butterflies begins a celebration called the day of the dead. What a better way to pay respect and homage to your loved ones? They build altars for their loved ones and decorate them with gifts of the things they liked. The ceremony is beautiful and very important, we have to appreciate life, but also respect death. And perhaps what’s most important is that they truly see the monarchs as carriers of the spirit of the departed who come once a year to say hello. You can also think that they are just some insect, mindlessly following a migrational pattern that is biologically ingrained in them. It’s up to you what you chose to think. You can chose to make what you want of this reality. With your thoughts you turn objective reality into your subjective one. It was Einstein that said, “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” I chose to believe in miracles, in magic, in wonder, in beauty, and in love. I choose to look at the butterflies and think of my loved ones, and you know what, for that short period of time I will feel connected with them. For that brief and fleeting moment, the spirit of my loved ones will be alive, with me, in the shape of a beautiful monarch butterfly.

Mariposas viajeras y migrantes -la raza
Sadly, not all is beauty and love in this story, monarch butterfly populations have decreased at an alarming rate in the last 20 years. Why this is happening is hard to pin-point but evidence points to the high use of pesticides and fertilizers. Also, as the climate of the world continues to go awry, these delicate creatures die off in the millions, since their systems can’t handle the extreme weather changes. How sad for this world that these beautiful and amazing creatures are slowly disappearing. Sadder to think that it’s not only the butterfly that’s disappearing, how many species of flora or fauna have gone or are going extinct? The list is endless and it continues to grow every day. This brings to mind a writing by Uruguayan author Eduardo Galeano titled Los Desaparecidos(the disappeared or missing):

August 30th, The day of the Disappeared.
Disappeared: The dead without tombs, the tombs without names.
and also:
native forests,
the stars in the night of the cities,
the aroma of flowers,
the flavor of fruit,
hand-written letters,
the old cafes where there was time to lose time,
kids playing in the street,
the right to walk,
the right to breathe,
secure jobs,
secure retirements,
houses not hidden behind bars,
doors without locks,
the sense of community,
and common sense.

We cannot allow the beauty and the good in the world to go extinct. The disappearance of the Monarch butterfly would be heartbreaking, terrible and wrong. Butterflies are a beautiful marvel of creation and they also represent many wonderful things. They represent freedom. They symbolize the right that living beings have to freely move. Many humans have to migrate in order to survive just like the butterflies. The monarch butterfly begins its trip in mexico in the spring and head north into Canada. The first generation dies a month into the trip, getting about a third of the way there into the southern US. The second generation lives about another month and gets up into northern US. The third generation also lives for one month and gets all the way up into Canada. But the special fourth generation, heeds an unknown and inexplicable call, and heads back south, living about 3 months making it all the way back into Mexico. It’s a mystery how the fourth generation is able to show up at a place it has never seen before. A place the butterfly had been 4 generations ago. There is a hidden, mysterious and magical force which drives them to the place of their descendants, to a place of their dreams, were all the monarchs re-unite and come together to survive the winter. The Immigrant is like the butterfly in many ways. He takes off into the unknown, taking steps down new roads, sometimes armed with nothing more than a vision, nothing more than dreams, and with resiliency, courage, and determination they go after them.

We all have the freedom to fly with imagination, just like a butterfly. I hope they don’t join the other species who have gone extinct but our world is in turmoil, the great extinction continues, climate change continues, the situation keeps getting worse. Will we wake up in time?

“Pues la Mariposa, verdad, es símbolo de que los americanos pueden hacer una cerca lo mas alta que puedan y siempre pasa la gente, siempre pasan los pájaros, las mariposas y todo eso. Ese cerco no puede parar ideas, no puede parar el amor.”

-Rene ‘El Padrino’ Yanez, Curador

“The butterfly, really, is the symbol that America can build the biggest fence they can but people will always get through, birds will always get trough, the butterflies and all that. The fence can’t stop ideas, it can’t stop love.”

Success

He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much; Who has enjoyed the trust of pure women, the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children; Who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; Who has never lacked appreciation of Earth’s beauty or failed to express it; Who has left the world better than he found it, Whether an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; Who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best he had; Whose life was an inspirationWhose memory a benediction.

― Bessie Anderson Stanley

“Life is pretty bleak at the top too. All of the baubles of the rich they’re kind of this phony compensation for the loss of what is really important. The loss of community, the loss of connection, the lost of intimacy, the loss of meaning. Everybody wants to live a life of meaning….

..It’s really hard to create community if the underlying knowledge is we don’t need each other. So people kind of get together, and they fraternize, or maybe they consume together. But joint consumption doesn’t create intimacy–only joint creativity and gifts create intimacy and connection. You have just gifts that are important…

…We all have a necessary and important gift to give and for a long time our minds have told us that maybe we’re imagining things, that it’s crazy to live according to what you want to give. But as more and more people wake up to the truth–that we are here to give and wake up to that desire. The more reinforcement we have from people around us that this isn’t crazy–this makes sense. This is how to live, and as we get that reinforcement then our minds and our logic no longer have to fight against the logic of the heart, which wants us to be of service. This shift of consciousness that inspires such things is universal in everybody, %99 and %1, and it’s awakening in different people in different ways….

…Love is the felt experience of connection to another beinglove is the expansion of the self to include the other, and that’s a different kind of revolution. There’s no one to fight; there’s no evil to fight. There’s no other in this revolution. Everybody has a unique calling and it’s really time to listen to that. That’s what the future is going to be. It’s time to get ready for it and contribute and make it happen.”

-Charles Eisenstein, Author and Activist.

MIGRATION IS BEAUTIFUL

Voice of Art is a powerful new documentary series on Pharrell Williams’ i am Other YouTube Channel. The episode focuses on artists-activists using online and offline art and activism to bring about definitive changes to immigration policy and perceptions of immigrants.

The episode features Artist and Activist Favianna Rodriguez, a leading voice in the movement of artists facing down the tide of anti-immigrant hatred, and follows her to the front lines of the immigration battle in Tucson, Arizona and the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, where Rodriguez joins undocumented activists, from the historic No Papers No Fear bus ride, risking arrest, beatings and other abuse from authorities.

Alongside rappers, emcees, street artists, painters, poets and performers, Rodriguez launched a historic cultural campaign turning the monarch butterfly into an iconic symbol of the immigrant rights movement and of the beauty and dignity of migrants and their journeys.
