exploring my mind and spreading the light through blogging

We all work, we all struggle

We all work, we all struggle,
we all bend our backs backward trying not to burst the bubble.
We all pray, we all hustle,
throwing set after set try’n to rep with some muscle.
We all trip, we all stumble,
we all have to rebuild from the ashes and ruble.
So be brave, yet be humble,
and keep sight of the light at the end of the tunnel.

If every two steps forward, you take one step back,
your still one step further, then where you where at.
See progress is a process of inches not miles,
so quickly cut your losses and remember to smile.
Believe me, I never said it’d be easy,
but every might oak started out as a seedling.
Searching for nourishment purpose and meaning,
breaking out of boxes accepting no ceiling.
See the worlds on your back,
and you don’t feel like atlas,
but perfection takes time,
remember to practice.
Crawl, before you walk, walk before you run,
strengthen your wings if setting course for the sun.
See you’ll have to be patient,
learn not to jump the gun.
Learn the life that you’ve lived,
and the life that’s to come.

Dream Awake

“All people dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous people, for they may act out their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.”

-T.E. Lawrence

“Todas las personas suenan pero no al igual. Aquellos que suenan durante la noche, en los empolvados rincones de sus mentes, despiertan en el día para encontrar que fue vanidad. Pero los sonadores del día son personas peligrosas, por que puede ser que actúen sus sueños con ojos abiertos, para hacerlo posible. “

-T.E. Lawrence

Education is Our Right

Zen pencil to the words of Malala Yousafzai who today was named joint winner of the Nobel Peace prize. Malala is a 15-year-old Pakistani girl who was shot in the head on the way home from school by the Taliban, who retaliated after she criticized the Taliban’s strict rules against female education. She was shot in the head for standing up for her right to go to school. Education is a fundamental human right, one which most of us take for granted. Education is the best tool humanity has to fight against the evils of ignorance, hatred, and prejudice and we should valued it tremendously. Thank you Malala for standing up for your rights and for inspiring others to do the same.

Tomorrow is a new day

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.”

― Ralph Waldo Emerson

Why do We Fall ?

Attitude

It will Ultimately Show

“Be more than ready. Be present in your discipline. Remember your gift. Be grateful for your gift and treat it like a gift. Cherish it, take care of it, and pass it on. Use your time to bathe yourself in that gift. Move your hand across the canvas. Go to museums. Make this into an obsession…

What you are will show, ultimately. Start now, every day, becoming, in your actions, your regular actions, what you would like to become in the bigger scheme of things.”

-Anna Deavere Smith

The Moon to her Ocean

“When He kisses her,

storms rise beneath her skin.

For she is the ocean,

and heher moon

-For Her

Be Brave

“…There are moments on the brink, when you can give yourself to a lover, or not; give in to self-doubt, uncertainty, and admonishment, or not; dive into a different culture, or not; set sail for the unknown, or not; walk out onto a stage, or not. A moment only a few seconds long, when your future hangs in the balance, poised above a chasm. It is a crossroads. Resist then, and there is no returning to the known world. If you turn back, there is only what might have been. Above that invisible crossroads are inscribed the words: Give up your will, all who travel here…”

Inside

Every day we slaughter our finest impulses. That is why we get a heartache when we read those lines written by the hand of a master and recognize them as our own, as the tender shoots which we stifled because we lacked the faith to believe in our own powers, our own criterion of truth and beauty. Every man (and woman), when he gets quiet, when he becomes desperately honest with himself, is capable of uttering profound truths. We all derive from the same source. There is no mystery about the origin of things. We are all part of creation, all kings, all poets, all musicians; we have only to open up, only to discover what is already there.”

-Henry Miller
